Ceramics Industry
ROTOMAC progressive cavity pumps are well suited to convey highly abrasive raw materials and accurately meter auxiliary constituents. Wetted parts use wear-resistant materials and application-specific shaft sealing.

Leaner Materials, Tighter Process
The ceramics industry has been optimised in recent years to become more environmentally friendly, improving material efficiency and minimising raw-material usage. Every litre that is wasted, over-dosed or degraded in transfer now costs twice — once in material, once in compliance.
The production of decorative and high-performance ceramics uses various components depending on the end product. Clay and kaolin-bearing ceramics are pumped, dosed and mixed with natural liquefiers — and each of those duties puts a different demand on the pump.
Abrasion is the design constraint. Kaolin and clay slurries wear a pump from the inside out. Wear-resistant wetted parts and application-specific shaft sealing are not upgrades on this duty — they are what determines service life.
Two Demands, One Pump Principle
Clay and kaolin-bearing ceramics are pumped, dosed and mixed with natural liquefiers — each requiring a different balance of durability and precision.
Conveying Abrasive Raw Materials
With strong solids-handling capability, good suction lift and minimal-pulsation flow, our pumps transport highly viscous slurries, process water and wastewater across thin to highly viscous media of varied density.
- Strong solids-handling capability
- Good suction lift on demanding intakes
- Handles media of widely varied density
- Wear-resistant wetted-part materials
Metering Auxiliary Constituents
Natural liquefiers are dosed into the body at low volumes but decide the behaviour of the whole batch — so the metering has to be exact and repeatable, batch after batch.
- Accuracy of ±1% with minimal pulsation
- Low to highly viscous and aggressive media
- With or without suspended solids
- Application-specific shaft sealing
ROTOMAC Pumps For The Ceramics Industry
Five duties across the plant, and the pump range specified for each.
Metering Additives
Our dosing pumps deliver low to highly viscous and aggressive media, with or without solids, to an accuracy of ±1% and with minimal pulsation.
Slurry Transport
After liquefying raw materials, abrasive ceramic slurries are conveyed to the moulds using our S Range standard pumps or, for highly viscous non-flowable products, our Open Hopper Range.
Coating
Paints, dyes and varnishes are pumped to dip tanks or spray injectors.
Process Slurries
Slurries from stone grinding are disposed of or transported for recycling using our S Range pumps.
Wastewater Treatment
Wastewater is conveyed for on- or off-site treatment using our S Range or Open Hopper Range pumps.
Pump Ranges For Ceramics
The ranges most often specified for this sector. Send us your duty and our engineers will confirm the model.
S Range
Robust all-round progressive cavity pumps conveying low to highly viscous products, with or without solids.
W Range
Open hopper pumps with integrated auger feed for highly viscous, semi-solid and non-flowable products.
Dosing Range
Precise metering of low to highly viscous, aggressive media with high accuracy and minimal pulsation.
