Pressure Rising Year On Year
The marine industry faces mounting operational pressure year on year. Rising waste disposal costs, tightening environmental regulation such as the MARPOL directive from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on exhaust gas treatment, mandatory ballast water treatment, and ever shorter port laytimes all add to the competitive burden shipowners and operators carry.
Pumps that run reliably, operate efficiently, and can be serviced within the narrow time windows a vessel spends in port are essential to keeping operations on schedule.
Every duty, one deck. Onboard duties range from handling bilge water, which demands a low-shear pump to prevent emulsification of oily water, to wastewater treatment involving highly viscous, high-solids media, as well as food waste, drilling mud, brine, urea, and a variety of chemicals — all within the space a vessel can spare.
Three Ranges Aboard
Trusted across vessel types from military carriers, cargo ships and cruise liners to super tankers and offshore supply vessels.
The Standard Platform
Our S Range forms the standard platform, conveying low to highly viscous products with or without solids.
- Ideal for space-constrained applications
- Drilling mud handling
- Bilge water to oily-water separation equipment
Waste & Dewatered Sludge
Waste and dewatered sludge on board are handled by our S Range and Open Hopper pumps, which are purpose-built for high-viscosity, non-flowable media.
- Purpose-built for non-flowable media
- Handles dewatered sludge on board
- Auger feed for low-flowability product
Aggressive & Corrosive Chemistry
Handles highly viscous, aggressive and corrosive media — with or without solids — delivering high accuracy with minimal pulsation.
- Caustic soda, urea and waste oils
- With or without suspended solids
- High accuracy with minimal pulsation
Marine Applications
Nine duties across the vessel, and the pump range specified for each.
Waste And Wastewater Handling
ROTOMAC S Range and Open Hopper pumps, together with our macerator units, handle everything from flowable to highly viscous, non-flowable products for the environmentally responsible treatment and disposal of waste and wastewater on board.
Bilge Water
Our low-shear pumps feed separation equipment with bilge water — which may contain oil, detergents, and various chemicals — without emulsifying the product.
Ballast Water Treatment
Pumps from our MP & LA Dosing Range are used for chemical dosing and treatment of ballast water.
Marine Exhaust Gas Cleaning
ROTOMAC pumps are deployed in scrubber systems for the removal of NOx and SOx, accurately dosing urea and caustic soda and circulating magnesium hydroxide slurry.
Waste Oil Incinerator
In the recycling of oil sludge, our pumps feed the incinerators reliably and with minimal maintenance downtime.
Loading And Unloading
In cargo ships, our S Range and industrial wide-throat pumps load and unload products ranging from thin to highly viscous and abrasive, including those with solid content such as calcium carbonate and titanium dioxide.
Food Waste And Galley Water Removal
Food waste and galley water are transferred using ROTOMAC S Range pumps, built to handle variable consistency without clogging.
Liquid Mud Handling
ROTOMAC S Range pumps, with an optimised stator design to overcome onboard space restrictions, are used to handle and optimise liquid mud.
Spent Grain Removal
On cruise ships with onboard microbreweries, our Open Hopper pumps with auger feed systems transport spent grain through a closed pipe system.
Pump Ranges For Marine
The ranges most often specified for this sector. Send us your duty and our engineers will confirm the model.
S Range
Robust all-round progressive cavity pumps conveying low to highly viscous products, with or without solids.
W Range
Open hopper pumps with integrated auger feed for highly viscous, semi-solid and non-flowable products.
Domestic DPC
Compact, joint-less wobble pumps for everyday transfer duty with very few assembled parts.
