In the plating industry, a metallic layer is applied to an object's surface to inhibit corrosion and improve wear resistance and solderability through electroplating. Applications span galvanising rain gutters and steel structures, plating cutlery, and producing electronic parts.
This industry generates wastewater contaminated with oil, grease, chemicals and metal, which must be treated and reliably pumped — a duty as demanding as the plating process itself.
The pump sees both ends of the process. Fresh, highly corrosive polymer and chemical solutions going in; oily water mixtures and metal-bearing electroplating sludge coming out. One plant, two very different specification problems.
